The Muslims of Albania and Kosovo, mindless of the dangers to themselves and their families, embraced and protected suffering Jews during World War II. They did not seek glory and recognition, but rather fulfillment of God's mandate to all Muslims: Do for others what you want for yourselves. Through the eyes of Norman Gershman, we can see that beyond our individual identities and desires, there is a common core of self, an essential humanity whose nature is peace, whose expression is thought, and whose action is unconditional love.
In each moment of our lives, we choose whether to feel love or hate, to attack or forgive, whether to see truth or illusion, whether to act for or against love, joy, and peace. Consequently, we leave our mark on every person we touch, and they in turn do the same. With even the smallest choice and subsequent chain of events, we cause great chaos or blessed peace. The Muslims of Albania and Kosovo chose the latter.
I congratulate Mr. Gershman on the completion of aheartwarming project that shows the world the true and beautiful face of Islam.
